Das Experiment

Das Experiment (The Experiment) is a German film directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel and based on a true story.

It's not a horror film, dystopia or really even a thriller but it is appalling, disgusting and disturbing. Especially seeing as it's based on an actual event.

If you're interested in mental conditioning or psychological behaviour, particularly in extreme conditions then I recommend watching it. At first everything starts out as a bit of a joke but eventually the tension rises, power struggles ensue and people start realising it's not a game anymore. Then it all starts to get out of hand.

The Stanford Prison Experiment was conducted in 1971 at Stanford University as a study of the psychological effects of being a guard or prisoner. Twenty four undergraduates were then selected to be either guard or prisoner by way of a coin toss.

The experiment was performed in a 'prison' built in the University basement where the participants would live for two weeks. After things escalating to the point of psychological trauma, physical danger and participants having to drop out early the experiment was cancelled after six days.

About La Notte

Behind The Name
La Notte is Italian for The Night. I first came across it when I discovered the movie title La Notte and since then those words have stayed with me. I liked the sound of them I guess and was just waiting for a reason to use them. That reason came when I created the forum.

And It Is?
The forum is for all those people out there that like horror, dystopia, the paranormal, the occult or any other form of what is considered to be 'darkness' in any genre, media or way of life.

I myself can be a bit 'vanilla' but also like a bit of each of the above mentioned topics across the board. I myself have an interest in horror, dystopia, vampires, lycanthropes or shape shifters, mind control and mental conditioning, Witchcraft, mythology, BDSM, dark art (including fetish photography), religions (Satanism, Nihilism for examples) and a lot of other topics pertaining to the Paranormal and The Occult.
All that encompasses lifestyle, literature and media so I wanted to have somewhere I could go that would have all those things and then more without feeling out of place or having to think first before speaking/posting.
Sure I could have joined a Goth forum, there are plenty of them out there that are great, but unlike a lot of Goths I'm not outwardly Goth and I can be on the 'lighter' side but still dark at the same time. I'm a Goth at heart but I don't go completely into the physical aspect of Gothic, so I would feel out of place.

La Notte, although for Goths or the fully immersed as well, is also for all those people that have an interest in the dark side but aren't completely immersed in the lifestyle. It's for people that have an interest in one area or several. It's for people who like to dip into it sporadically because the darkness calls to them. And it's for the people who live it.

That is what La Notte is about.

Happy reading and posting
